OX - Vertical Bike Rack System

At Backland, we’re all about mountain biking. It all started back in 2016 when Simon and Melissa got their first sprinter van. On the very same day, they began thinking about efficient ways to carry bikes without losing access to the back doors. 

More than seven years later, that idea became the OX Bike Rack System. Each rack is designed to carry up to three bikes. Mount sold separately.

Functional Design

The OX bike rack system was one of our longest design projects because we wanted to get every detail just right. We needed a rack that’s super easy and quick to load, protects rear doors from damage, holds up to 6 bikes on two racks, works with different types of bikes, and keeps ground clearance high for tackling ditches. Plus, if you accidentally back into something, the tires take the hit instead of the bikes or seats.

We teamed up with the experts at Mammoth Mounts to bring this idea to life. While some people prefer storing bikes inside their vans, the OX bike rack is perfect for carrying bikes when they’re too dirty for the inside or when you need extra interior space.

While the OX Vertical Bike Rack System is mainly designed for mountain bikes, it works great with road, gravel bikes including fat bikes too. Note that due to the shape of road and gravel bike handlebars only 2 bikes can be fitted on each carrier.
